NOVEMBER 14 Speaker: Alexa Bersenas, RVT/CCRP, Toronto Veterinary Emergency Hospital This seminar will focus on acute pain management using popular, and new pain management strategies, including tramadol, buprenorphine, dexmedetomidine, gabapentin, as well as modes of drug delivery (e.g., local anesthetic blocks and intravenous infusions). There will be an emphasis on individualized pain management using case based examples. Alexa Bersenas graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) in 1998 and, thereafter, practiced small animal medicine in downtown Toronto for 2 years, rotated through a small animal medicine & surgery internship at the Atlantic Veterinary College, and completed a residency in Emergency & Critical Care at OVC in 2004. Faculty at the OVC for the last 7 years, and currently an Associate Professor teaching in the Intensive Care Unit of the Ontario Veterinary College Health Sciences Centre. |
